First Steps

Buying Your Home

- Imagine...

Are you ready to step into the cozy warmth of your own living room, or envision the smell of freshly brewed coffee in your very own kitchen? How about knowing your home can also be one of your greatest financial investments? This place we call home is so much more than a property; it's a haven that becomes a part of your life, your history, and your future. We understand the unbelievable excitement, the nerves, and the anticipation that come with this significant step. There might be some twists and turns along the way, so it's crucial to seek the guidance from a professional who will be your guiding light at each step.

The Cards

Stars & Planets Align

We joke about this, but the truth is that embarking on buying a home can often feel like one is a waiting for the stars and planets to perfectly align. It's easy to become extremely excited about the idea, but many fall short from even trying as they simply believe buying a home may forever be an unobtainable option. Instead, they continue to be swept up in the impossibilities of a dream without even attempting to take those first few steps.

While not cosmically prohibited, buying a home will most certainly be a process. If you plan on financing, there will be initial legwork required to ensure you qualify and secure the best available rates. We highly recommend getting started on this months in advance. Much like pouring the foundation of a house, a successful real estate journey requires careful planning to establish a firm footing. However, once that groundwork is set, everything tends to fall cosmically into place. Every step, every decision, and every moment will begin to propel you closer to actualizing your home-buying dream.

Beware The "Side-Hustler"

Cute kiddo holding a mask up to his face.

This kiddo is adorable! Cute and cuddly, to be sure, but he probably wouldn't be your go-to when needing guidance on buying a home.

It's crucial to understand that a significant portion of individuals in the industry work as part-time agents. Unfortunately, many of these individuals are simply seeking 'gig work' or a 'side-hustle.' Real estate is an attractive field, and for some, it is pursued with the misconceptions of making quick money with minimal effort. In reality, our profession is remarkably challenging, and most part-time agents only handle one or two transactions a year, at best. Upon obtaining their license, these individuals enthusiastically inform all their friends and family, only to lose excitement upon realizing the difficulties associated with the work, plus the ongoing and cost-prohibitive nature of licensure, agency memberships, MLS subscriptions, legalities, and more.

We frequently encounter individuals who feel obligated to hire their newly licensed friend, family member, or mutual acquaintance—often with disastrous results. We urge you to carefully consider this decision. Numerous problems can arise at any given moment, and unfortunately, inexperienced agents often walk right into them. Furthermore, lacking the proper knowledge and background, they won't know how to navigate through these issues.
